| A lot of people dream of treating themselves to a session at a spa but unfortunately we can’t afford to do this as often as we’d like. - Set the right water temperature
The secret of a good hot bath is simply getting the temperature of the water right. If the water is too cold, it will be hard to relax and if it’s too hot, it will cause excessive sweating or even pressure or tachycardia issues. Generally speaking, it’s advisable to set your water temperature between 38° and 40°, depending on personal preference. To make the experience more pleasing and longer lasting, it’s therefore important to have a water heater that can ensure water at the optimum temperature whenever we want it and for the whole duration of the bath: Ariston’s instantaneous gas water heaters, for example, offer a high level of comfort by heating the water instantaneously and can also be integrated with a solar system to exploit renewable energy. Many experts suggest rinsing with cold water at the end of a bath to stimulate circulation and tone up the skin, which is what happens in Nordic style spas, but obviously a lot depends on the season and the ambient temperature. - Heat the bathroom too
As just mentioned, room temperature is crucial in organizing a great domestic spa experience, for it will enable us to devote ourselves more comfortably to personal care, with maybe some relaxing or invigorating massages or a quick stretching or yoga exercise.Further, to avoid draughts and also help the formation of steam, which is good for our respiratory system, we should remember to keep the bathroom door shut.
So it’s important, for all these reasons, to have a uniform heating system that can be regulated according to the needs of the moment. Thanks to the Ariston product configurator, we can find the solution best suited to our needs. - Keep a glass of iced water to hand
Maybe not many people know this, but when you treat yourself to a hot bath it can be very useful to keep a glass of iced water to hand (to keep ourselves hydrated) and a cloth as a cold compress for the forehead or neck. These simple tricks will help us feel fresh and lower our body temperature, should it rise too quickly, without affecting our relaxing hot bath experience. - Choose the right lighting
To make our domestic spa unforgettable, we have to get the lighting right as well. Soft light is ideal, from led spots in key points in the bathroom and some coloured lights too maybe, to enjoy the beneficial effects of chromotherapy too. - Indulge in some bath salts, essential oils and music
For a total spa experience, we shouldn’t be without bath salts and fragrant essential oils. Salt, for example, dissolved in hot water, is effective against water retention and helps drainage, thereby helping to relieve swollen legs and feet. We can even choose between different types of salt, depending on our needs: non-refined sea salt, for example, is highly depurative and can provide relief in cases of muscle contraction or other muscular disorders. Himalayan salt, on the other hand, is very rich in mineral salts (of magnesium and potassium, for example), so it’s the salt of choice if you want perfect skin.
And as a finishing touch, some of your favourite music wafting through the air, helping you relax and regenerate not only the body but the spirit too.
