Ariston Group earns EcoVadis Silver Medal

modified: 17 October 2024

THE GROUP HAS RECENTLY COMPLETED THE ECOVADIS ASSESSMENT POSITIONING IN THE TOP 15% OF COMPANIES THAT BEST ADDRESS SUSTAINABILITY CRITERIA AMONG THOSE RATED.

Ariston Group is pleased to share that our dedication to integrating sustainability throughout our corporate strategy has earned us the Silver Medal from EcoVadis, a renowned authority in business sustainability evaluations.

As we implement our 2030 ESG plan “Road to 100”, we use the rating process as a key tool to validate our performance and track our progress. The EcoVadis assessment evaluates us on 21 sustainability criteria in four core areas: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. Thanks to our sustainability roadmap across Solutions, Operations, People & Communities, Customers and Governance, we've improved our overall performance by 19% this year, placing us in the 88th percentile.

Noteworthy among our progress is a substantial 75% boost in the Sustainable Procurement category. Within our “Road to 100” initiative, we aim to involve 100% of our strategic suppliers in our ESG roadmap by 2030. This year, we have introduced a comprehensive sustainable procurement programme that embeds sustainability into the supplier management process, fostering consistency, accountability and lasting partnerships with our trading associates.

We have achieved some remarkable milestones, including:

  • The release of a Code of Conduct for Suppliers and a Sustainable Procurement Policy, which are binding for all our suppliers and extend ESG principles to the entire supply chain.
  • The implementation of a structured due diligence process for evaluating suppliers' ESG-related risks, which revealed that more than 80% of suppliers assessed in the first wave scored above both our set threshold and industry benchmarks.
  • The rollout of comprehensive training for all procurement employees.

As we acknowledge results, we have defined a clear pathway to further strengthen our responsible supply chain. Our objective is to assess 50% of strategic suppliers on ESG performance by 2025 and to increase this percentage to over 80% by 2026, in pursuit of our 2030 goal. The first step, following due diligence, is engaging with the low-performing suppliers to identify corrective action plans, while recognising the efforts of high-performing ones.

“Following the validation of our emission reduction targets by SBTi, the EcoVadis Silver Medal not only underscores our dedication to the sustainable development of Ariston Group but also reflects our commitment to engage with stakeholders. Sustainability is an ecosystem and, driven by this belief, we aim to strengthen our industry leadership by aligning our supplier base with our ESG strategy, fostering sustainable practices across the entire value chain,” commented Sabrina Baggioni, Chief Digital, Marketing and Sustainability Officer at Ariston Group.

"Operations will increasingly leverage sustainability as a critical enabler of efficiency and effectiveness. As suppliers play a pivotal role along the value chain, Ariston Group’s vision for sustainable procurement is centred on fostering partnerships that promote continuous, collaborative improvement in their Environmental, Social and Governance performance. Our goal is to uphold the highest global standards, from environmental protection to the respect for human rights," added Pierluigi Astorino, Chief Operating Officer.
